Publication Ethics and Misconduct

Systemia: Journal of Law, Technology and Governance is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity throughout the submission, peer-review, editing, and publication processes. The journal follows the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure responsible and transparent scholarly publishing.

All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to act with honesty, fairness, accountability, and respect for academic standards. The journal strictly prohibits research and publication misconduct, including plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and manipulation of the peer-review process.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their submissions. They must properly acknowledge all sources, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, obtain necessary ethical approvals, and ensure that manuscripts are not simultaneously submitted to or published by another journal.

Editors and reviewers must maintain confidentiality, declare potential conflicts of interest, and evaluate manuscripts objectively and independently. Editorial decisions shall be based on the scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and integrity of the manuscript, without discrimination or inappropriate influence.

Allegations of misconduct will be handled promptly, fairly, and confidentially. The journal may conduct preliminary assessments, request explanations, initiate further investigations, or refer cases to the authors’ affiliated institutions or relevant authorities. Where misconduct is established, appropriate actions may include manuscript rejection, correction, retraction, notification of relevant institutions, or other measures consistent with COPE guidelines.

SYSTEMIA is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record and ensuring that all ethical concerns are addressed through transparent, proportionate, and procedurally fair mechanisms.
